Couples / Family / Pets

Q: I am nervous as i don't know how to pose

I will give guidance during your shoot (i.e. stand together and look at each other) but I also like to capture natural moments of you walking towards me, holding hands, having a laugh together, sitting together etc. before your session is over I will ensure that I have a variety of poses and natural shots sufficient for your chosen package

Q: What do i / we wear?

My recommendations for outfits that compliment your shoot are: plain (non printed items) denim or white bottoms for everyone, beige coloured clothing. Linen is always a win! Take a look at my instagram for some ideas, feel free to consult with me and send me your outfit choices, I am always happy to help!

Q: What locations do you offer?

I am most inclined to recommend a beach shoot at either sunrise or sunset. I find the lighting and the photos at the beach come out really well. I also have 2 filed spots that are free to use or I have a homestead farm or studio option that comes with a hire fee. If you would prefer this to be at your home or have a location in mind please let me know!

Q: I don't want my photos shared on social media

That's quite okay! As much as we love to share our beautiful clients it's not a must-do, this will be asked in your session before I send out your gallery and there is no pressure either way.

Q: Can you take some proposal photos for me?

YES! I would love to. Please ensure you let me know before hand so we can plan at what point of the shoot / location will best suit for this.

Q: Can you take some pregnancy announcement photos for me?

YES! I would love to. Please ensure you let me know before hand so we can plan at what point of the shoot / location will best suit for this and that we can prepare all props (baby scan image etc)

Q: Can my dog come to our shoot?

Yes! But please note we will need to allocate a slightly longer time slot, as you can imagine getting your dogs to co-operate plus getting family or couple shots in the same session does make it go a little longer. You will also need to plan someone to come hold your dog whilst your other family or couple shots are taken! Please let me know if a pet is coming before our shoot!

Q: I am worried my kids won't smile

Kids will be kids, while it's hard to guarantee your child or toddler will co-operate, I will do my best to get the natural shots if they are not willing to do any planned poses. I also plan my sessions earlier in the afternoon for younger kids so that they aren't tired and cranky and you can be out of there and home in time for dinner! As a mum of 3 kids I have some good practice with winning some battles and I am yet to have no smiles from a child!

Q: Sickness

In the unlikely event i was to be sick before your planned session, this would be rescheduled. Due to working closely with births and newborn I am proactive in ensuring I take relevant steps to avoid any sickness. In the event that you or someone in your family is sick, you can also reschedule.

Q: Rain

I am pretty active in checking weather forecasts before booking sessions, in the event our session is rained out it will need to be rescheduled! I would make this call the day before your session at the latest.

Maternity

Q: What week should I do my shoot from?

I recommend from 35-37 weeks of pregnancy, as this is when your belly will be most 'in bloom' and makes great photos for you knowing it was very close to full term. I do have clients that prefer it earlier (30 weeks) which is okay too if you would like to be at a slightly smaller and more comfortable stage. Please check my instagram, I always write how many weeks my clients are so you can get an idea.

Q: I am nervous as i don't know how to pose

You don't at all need to be a model to do a maternity shoot. I will consult with you before your shoot and create a mood board off your outfit ideas and location and send you this through! I will give you full guidance on the day on how to pose!

Q: What do i wear?

I suggest neutral colours (white, beige, black, denim) some combinations that I love are: white linen pants with a nice bralette, unbuttoned jeans with a bralette and a sheer top, any sort of neutral maternity dress that highlights your belly, crochet items, a chunky knit tucked up so the belly is out. Feel free to chat to me before hand, check my instagram for inspiration and bring extra outfits to change - depending on the package you have selected and the time we have allocated.

Newborn

Q: What week should I do my shoot from?

I recommend shooting at the 7-10 day old mark for Newborns. This is the stage where your baby is still relatively sleepy and will get us a quick shoot where I can capture your special moments and be out of your way so you can enjoy your newborn bubble. Of course if it is later than this that's also okay, we just may not get those nice sleepy shots - but photos of baby awake are just as cute!

Q: What do i dress myself / my baby in?

We are so happy to offer a full baby wardrobe from Woven Kids (sizes 0000 and 000) including blankets, accessories and swaddles. I will bring along some pieces to each newborn session that you are welcome to borrow. Otherwise if you are using your own i suggest a plain zip suit (white/beige) or some knitwear. My recommendations for your outfits that compliment your shoot are: denim or white bottoms for everyone, beige coloured clothing. Linen is always a win! Obviously loose and comfortable for mama, you just had a baby so don't stress about how you look, often the natural shots are the most treasured ones. Take a look at my instagram for some ideas, feel free to consult with me and send me your outfit choices, I am always happy to help!

Q: Does the Newborn shoot include family members?

Yes, immediate family members only. I will do my best to get as many shots in the allocated time frame (i.e. baby alone, baby and mum, baby and dad, baby and sibling, everyone together etc.) please note the 30 minute session is only recommended for a family of 3 otherwise there may not be enough time allocated

Q: What locations do you offer?

Newborn sessions a traditionally done in your home. If you would like a location this can also be arranged, please consult with me once you have booked.

Q: I don't want my photos shared on social media

That's quite okay! As much as we love to share our beautiful clients it's not a must-do, this will be asked in your session before I send out your gallery and there is no pressure either way.

Q: Do you charge a travel fee?

Anything within 20km from Robina there is no travel charge. There would be a travel fee if your home is outside of this location which can be discussed on booking!

Q: Are you fully vaccinated?

Yes! I am fully covid-19 vaccinated and get my whooping cough vaccination every 2 years. I always make sure i take my shoes off and wash my hands as soon as i enter your home, I use very natural posing for your newborn and I can direct you how to pose or swaddle your baby if you would prefer (otherwise I am happy to help, it's upto you!)

Q: Sickness

In the unlikely event i was to be sick before your planned newborn session, this would be rescheduled as I would not risk coming near a new baby unwell. Due to working closely with births and newborn I am proactive in ensuring I take relevant steps to avoid any sickness. In the event that you or someone in your family is sick, you can also reschedule.

Fresh 48

Q: What is our plan?

With fresh 48, these are done in the first 48 hours of your babies life in your hospital room or at your home if you home birth or you are discharged early. We will have an initial chat about your individual birth plan and tailor our shoot to that. We will book a tentative date for natural births.

Q: What do i dress my baby in?

I like to initially get some nice skin to skin images in my sessions so all you need is a nappy. If you have your announcement outfit laid out I would love to photograph that before you dress your baby in it!

We are so happy to offer a full baby wardrobe from Woven Kids (sizes 0000 and 000) including blankets, accessories and swaddles. I will bring along some pieces to your session that you are welcome to borrow. Take a look at my instagram for some ideas, feel free to consult with me and send me your outfit choices, I am always happy to help!

Q: Does the shoot include family members?

Yes, immediate family only. I will get some photos of baby alone, baby and mum, baby and dad and all together. I do like the candid photos, feeding, having cuddle time, changing a nappy etc.

Q: I don't want my photos shared on social media

That's quite okay! As much as we love to share our beautiful clients it's not a must-do, this will be asked before I send out your gallery and there is no pressure either way.

Q: Are you fully vaccinated?

Yes! I am fully covid-19 vaccinated and get my whooping cough vaccination every 2 years.

Q: Sickness

In the unlikely event i was to be sick before your session, I would find a substitute photographer to cover me. I have many friends in the industry I am confident in their skillset and know will be able to deliver beautiful images in my absence. If this is not a satisfying option, your fee can be allocated to another session type i.e. newborn/family photos.

Due to working closely with births and newborn I am proactive in ensuring I take relevant steps to avoid any sickness.

Birth

Q: What is our plan?

As you get closer to your due date, we have a face to face catch up where we discuss your birth plan - go through contact numbers, when to call me, what photos you do and don't want etc. each birth and time to call is totally different depending on if it's your first or your last birth would depend on our plan.

Natural: When you are thinking of going to hospital and contact your midwife + when you are on the way to the hospital

Induction: Planned date, normally I would arrive mid way through if your first baby, sooner if second or third etc.

C-Section: Arrive the same time as you

If having me from the very start of your birth is important to you, this can be discussed. Although many first time labours can go quite long, so this would be assessed case by case!

If you have very quick labours and quick births, this would also be discussed and catered for.

Q: What do I wear?

This can't always be planned, but if it could be i recommend your birth / support partners to wear neutral colours (white/beige/black) to ensure the best images and that there are no patterned clothing distractions in the images, often they also have no shirt which is fine too. For the mother birthing obviously whatever you are comfortable in - most often a small bralette or even nothing at all. Often once baby is here it all comes off which is quite okay too, I don't share or publish any sensitive images without your consent.

Q: I want the photos but I am nervous to have someone in the room...

The reason i plan our initial catch up is so that we can meet before the big day and you can be comfortable knowing you have met me and know who I am. I know birth is a sacred space and my aim is to be a fly on the wall - you won't even know I am in the room. I do not give support, I do not talk, I do not give birth advice or pose any births, I photograph them as they come in their true natural beauty. My job is to capture the emotion and story of your birth as it unfolds and that is all. I like to get the extra detailed shots like your room number, the whiteboard on the wall, babies first outfit laid out etc. After your birth when everyone has left the room if you would like me to help you get a few posed shots I am happy to do this, otherwise I will stay for the golden hour after birth for some candid images and then I will be gone to work on your gallery! As a mum of 3, there is pretty much nothing I haven't seen!

Q: I don't want my photos shared on social media

That's quite okay! As much as we love to share our beautiful clients and birth is so inspiring and comforting to other mums it's not a must-do, this will be asked before I send out your gallery and there is no pressure either way. Lots of our birth clients are happy for non-explicit images to be shared and the sensitive images to be kept private, some are happy for all to be shared or none to be shared - it's upto you!

Q: What if you miss the birth?

Based on the above planning session, our plan will allow me enough time to get to you and capture your birth. It takes me 30 minutes including parking to arrive at each hospital on the Gold Coast, so provided you have given me notice at the point we discussed then I shouldn't miss it! In the event you do give birth before I arrive or you don't make it to hospital yourself, your fee(s) paid can be transferred to a Fresh 48 package, a Newborn package or some family photos.

Q: What if the room is dark?

My camera easily adjusts to dark settings, and during editing i can easily lighten these up. I do not use a flash, as i find this extremely distracting during a birth setting. If required i would turn the bathroom light on to brighten the room.

Q: Can you attend c-section births?

Yes. So far I have not had a problem, but please check with your hospital or your obstetrician before booking me as there are release forms I am required to sign.

Q: What if my natural labor progresses to an emergency c-section?

I am required to follow the directions of your medical team. If i am asked to leave the room, you would have to request that i continue photographing as ultimately it's your choice too, if this is declined then I must follow their requests. In a worst case scenario, I can hand my camera to a staff member with the correct settings to photograph in my absence and I can continue documenting when you return from theatre.

Q: Can you attend home births?

Yes! The same 20km radius from Robina applies, anything outside of this will incur a travel fee.

Q: What locations do you offer?

Pindara, GCUH, Gold Coast Private and John Flynn, or home births (20km radius no fee applies)

Q: Do you charge a travel fee?

Anything within 20km from Robina there is no travel charge. There would be a travel fee if your home or hospital is outside of this location which can be discussed on booking!

Q: Are you fully vaccinated?

Yes! I am fully covid-19 vaccinated and get my whooping cough vaccination every 2 years.

Although, due to working closely with births and newborn I am proactive in ensuring I take relevant steps to avoid any sickness.
